Today’s Tunes – Thursday, April 6th

Welcome to Today’s Tunes where I’ll be posting a collection of a couple songs that I’m really enjoying on that particular day. There’s no criteria for the songs, these can be any genre, old or new, doesn’t matter. Here are today’s tunes (links open in Spotify, Soundcloud/Youtube embedded for the lazy)

“Aquarium” – Mac Miller

This song is a top 3 Mac Miller song for me. I love the spacey vibe and Mac has admitted himself that this is his favorite track from Watching Movies With The Sound Off. WMWTSO was really the beginning of the transition for Mac Miller from “pop rap” to legitimate artist/producer with range, and “Aquarium” helped push that narrative. If you’re looking for another great track off this album, look no further than  “I Am Who I Am (Killin’ Time)”.

“New Fang” – Them Crooked Vultures

Hard for a band to go wrong with a lineup consisting of Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, and John Paul Jones. If you dig Queens of the Stone Age and/or Eagles of Death Metal, safe to say you’ll like this one.

“Got Soul” – Robert Randolph & the Family Band

The pride of Orange, NJ has been killing it for years. Robert Randolph packs some powerful Soul/Funk with his signature steel string guitar. Excellent live show as well. If you’re a Soul/Funk fan and want to hear more, check out “Jesus Is Just Alright” (feat. Eric Clapton) and “Love Is The Only Way” (feat. Dave MAtthews).
