Today’s Tunes – Sunday, April 30th

Welcome to Today’s Tunes where I’ll be posting a collection of a couple songs that I’m listening to that particular day. There’s no criteria for the songs, these can be any genre, old or new, doesn’t matter. Here are today’s tunes:

“Done Did It” – Black Keys (Blakroc)

I love the blending of Hip-Hop and Blues rock on this song and really the entire Blakroc album as a whole. It’s not technically a Black Keys album as it’s considered a collaboration album between them and Damon Dash who originally came up with the idea for the album. Every song on the album shows off Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney’s musical versatility by featuring at least one hip-hop/R&B artist, including legends such as Q-tip, RZA, Mos Def, and Raekwon. NOE shows off some really good flow on this track, but other songs like “What You Do To Me” and “Ain’t Nothing Like You” are definitely worth a listen.

“Along With My Mind” – Samson

This one has a nice and relaxing vibe to it, perfect for your lazy/hungover Sunday. I was originally skeptical when I first checked out Samson because I thought he’d be another corny, stoner white rapper, but he actually has put out some solid work. Other good chill out/smoking songs from this dude are “Medicinal” and “You & I”.

“Woke Up Older (acoustic)” – The Wonder Years

Another chilled out, although somewhat depressing, vibe with this acoustic version of “Woke Up Older”. These guys are one of my favorite Pop Punk bands out right now but you can count on them to usually put out at least one slower-paced song like this one on each album. If you’re liking this song, they also have an acoustic version of “Local Man Ruins Everything” and “Racing Trains” are both worth checking out.
