Today’s Tunes – Tuesday, May 4th

Welcome to Today’s Tunes where I’ll be posting a collection of a couple songs that I’m listening to that particular day. There’s no criteria for the songs, these can be any genre, old or new, doesn’t matter. Here are today’s tunes:

“Insurance” – Asher Roth feat. ZZ Ward, Rockie Fresh & Blu

Criminally overlooked song by Asher Roth here. For a long time I’ve been saying that “I Love College” might have been the worst thing to happen to Asher Roth’s career. It immediately cornered him as some corny, “frat rap” white kid who only rapped about weed and partying, when he’s actually a legitimately good rapper. There are plenty of other examples of songs that are WAY better than “I Love College”, like “Hard Times”“More Cowbell”, and “Sushi”.

“When The Tequila Runs Out” – Dawes

Love this song because it’s the perfect folk-rock addition to any Summer/day drinking playlist. It’s got that light-hearted, sing-along feel to it. I’ve been listening to these guys since around 2013 or so and not all their songs are as upbeat as this one, but if you want to hear more, check out “Roll With The Punches” and “Thing Happen”.

Go With The Flow” – Queens of the Stone Age

Been getting back in to QOTSA lately ever since frontman Josh Homme confirmed new music is on the way. Sometimes I forget just how fucking good this band is. Songs For The Deaf is probably a borderline top 10 Rock album for me, and if you haven’t listened to the whole thing all the way through I HIGHLY suggest you do so. Other great songs to check out if you’re a rock fan are “Little Sister”“Song For The Dead”“I Sat By The Ocean”.

P.S. If you’re a QOTSA fan and you haven’t checked them out already, it’s definitely also worth checking out Homme’s other projects Them Crooked Vultures and Eagles Of Death Metal.
